    This is a spectacular Trade Dollar dating all the way back to 1879- and yet it looks like it was minted today! Trade Dollars were created using a screw press, and unlike todays or even early century coin production, it was far more difficult to achieve and a cameo appearance. The pressure and method used during that time had to be used just right and only the earliest of dies exhibited Cameo-grade eye-appeal. Just 1,541 examples were minted for this year, and only 140 examples have been graded Cameo by NGC.

    This 1879 exhibits superior eye-appeal with haze-free surfaces and pitch-black fields that are a stunning mirror quality. Both the obverse and reverse share matching, fully frosted and snow-white devices. It is SO CLOSE to being an Ultra Cameo! The eye-appeal is absolutely off the charts, and it’s truly incredible to think this is over 140 years old!
